MEMORIAL PARK in ARCADIA, WISCONSIN

The Memorial Park in Arcadia, Wisconsin is a beautiful 54-acre park with a unique tribute to veterans of all wars and conflicts.  A stroll along the Avenue of Heroes to witness exceptional memorial statues in the fighting men and women who gave so generously for the freedom we enjoy today.  It is an experience you will not find, other than on a trip to Washington DC.  The walk is laid out as a time line depicting the history of Arcadia since 1856.  Each 1-meter block represents one year in history.  Starting near the rotunda at the West end of the walk, it is 1856 and Arcadia has just been established as a community.  Walking East, you can follow the development of Arcadia through granite blocks placed in the walkway.  A number of flower planters have been placed in the walk each designating a war or conflict in which the United States was involved.  A new addition to the park is a large amphitheater that will host summer band concerts.

Everyone who has the opportunity to visit the Avenue of Hero’s will understand the meaning of FREEDOM, that all of these brave men and women fought for.

The photographs included in this memorial are only a sampling of what this small town has accomplished.

* Merideth wrote, when donating these photos, "I am donating the information on various Memorials in hopes it will not only remind us of what our ancestors have done with a wilderness in a strange new land to them, but also to help others find those ancestors I know we are all proud of."
We at Trempealeau Co. WIGenWeb are deeply saddened to report that Merideth passed away in 2007.
