Databases: Vital Records: Pre-1907 Death Indices
Please
read before
using these indices (linked below)
As stated in the introduction to the Vital Records section of this website, birth, marriage and death events were not required until a state law went into effect on 01 Oct 1907. If you do not find a name within the indices on these pages, it probably was due to this fact. The death indices found within this website were compiled from the actual death records filed by the state covering the years 1854 through 1907 and are typed exactly as the state has recorded them. It is suggested to attempt to use different spelling variations when seeking records. Please keep this in mind when using the indices within these pages. No attempt has been (nor will be) made to change history by making corrections in spellings or dates. You will find that several of the records have either question marks (?) or a notation that reads "(unknown)". These records were either unreadable or not fully reported. Please note
that I do not have access to the actual records. If you would like to
obtain a
record
of a person listed here, it is suggested that you print out and fill in
a request form and mail it along with the appropriate fee. These
forms are available in either PDF or Word
format. Effective as of 27 Oct 2007, death records are now $20.00 ($3.00 extra is charged for
each
additional copy of the same record when ordered
at the same time), in the
form
of a money order, certified bank or cashier's check (no out-of-state
personal checks accepted) to the Trempealeau Co. Register of Deeds
Office. Death records can also be ordered online using a credit
card through
the Trempealeau
Co. ROD website (additional fees will apply for this online
service). The snail mail address for
the Trempealeau Co. ROD office is: Trempealeau
County Courthouse Now
