Schools:  History of School Districts of Trempealeau County

Histories of School Districts of Trempealeau County, 1948

by Dorris L. Sander, County Superintendent of Schools

Written by pupils and teachers of schools and mimeographed in the office of the county superintendent of schools in 1948.

This history of the school districts in Trempealeau County was written by the boys and girls of the schools with the help of their teachers.  A great deal of research was made by these pupils and teachers.  Old school records were studied, old settlers in the communities were interviewed and letters sent to older people who had lived in the communities.  Some of the schools invited the older settlers to come in and talk to the pupils.

(Comment by Clarence Gamroth, 1968:  The mimeographed histories referred to above were compiled and assembled into a loosely bound volume of 121 pages.  I made no attempt to cover all the districts in the entire county.  Also no attempt to copy the entire story on the districts which appear on the following pages.  Only the [missing word(s)] were picked out and summation was made in many instances rather than a verbatim copy.  The book is on file in the Independence Public Library.)
